Description

  • ECM (European Construction Machinery) has teamed with Rosenqvist to develop a factory-fitted Hy-Rail system that allows its 10-tonne ECM ES95HR midi excavator to drive on railway lines and can be disconnected within an hour to have the earthmover back to standard configuration.
  • The Rosenqvist Hy-Rail system can run as factory-fitted on the ES95HR due to a series of quick-connect hoses and locking pins that have been attached during ECM's manufacturing process.
  • Once the Hy-Rail is activated on the railway line the excavator's hydraulics switch over from running the walk motors to powering the rail system, allowing the excavator to ride the rails as easily as tracking over dirt.
  • MES (Mini Excavator Sales NSW) & BMES are the exclusive Australian distributors for ECM's Hy-Rail excavators.
  • The ECM ES95HR was chosen for this Hy-Rail fitout because of its high standard of specifications, MES says.
  • The machine is a true zero-swing excavator which is capable of having extra counterweights added to the rear without extending over its track, the company says. This allows the machine to have the lifting capacity of over 4,000kg over its blade and a safe working load of over 1,690kg at 4m reach with 360 degree rotation around the machine.
  • "This is a game changer in the midi excavator class," MES says.
  • The standard dual auxiliary hydraulics can run 100 lpm on the high-flow lines and 60 lpm on the low-flow lines, both with portion control allowing smooth operation while using auxiliary hydraulics.
  • ECM's offset boom (Knuckle Boom) is factory fitted with anti-burst protection as standard and is able to dig outside its own tracks without having to turn the machine to one side. This allows the operator to have 100 percent vision out of the front windscreen while digging with the offset boom to either side.
  • The cabin is ROPS/FOPS certified and is rated for the extra weight of the Rosenqvist Hy-Rail system, which "allows the machine to comply with the rules and regulations on all Australian work sites regarding the ROPS certification weight rating", MES says.
  • "ECM has installed an extra 450kg counterweigh behind the standard counterweight as this will counteract the SWL while using additional attachments (tilt rotator, etc) on the machine, the company adds.
  • "The Geo-Service Satellite Monitoring System fitted in the ES95HR has remote diagnostic and positioning, allowing for the monitoring of the machine's full diagnostics, engine temperature, hydraulics temperatures, hydraulic pressure and so on," MES says. "This is a very in depth report - even times worked and what engine revs worked at are reported in this program.
  • "This is a big plus for rental companies as the Geo-Service can act as a security system or hire report for times of usage; you can log in and see if the machine is working or parked up at any time or go back to a certain date and see the dates and times it has worked."
  • With the track width of a standard 8-tonne excavator, the ES95HR can be transported within a standard flatbed truck.
  • Weighing in at 11.2 tonnes when fitted with the Hy-Rail system, and 10 tonnes without, this is a compact zero tail swing machine with a width of 2320mm and an operating reach of 6.3m with standard quick hitch.
